EmpoWomen is a two-year project (2024-2025) funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation program. The goal of EmpoWomen is to promote innovation in the startup ecosystem, gender equality and diversity in entrepreneurship, contributing to economic growth in Europe, especially targeting startups in the Widening Countries* of the European Union.
The EmpoWomen program focuses on accelerating women-led businesses growth in the European deep-tech sector, where women are just below 15% at founding or co-founding startups.
The EmpoWomen program will award a total of € 1.125 million to exclusively women-led startups selected through a competitive process from European emerging markets and associated EU countries.
The selected women entrepreneurs will have the potential to receive up to € 60,000 of equity – free funding. The financial assistance is intended to drive the expansion of women-led startups in the deep-tech sector. Along with financial prizes the selected participants will benefit from acceleration and mentoring services shaped together by Startup Wise Guys and Business Angels Europe.
The open call is currently active and will remain open until 8 March 2024.
