This year marks the 2,505th anniversary of the battle of the Athenian and Platean heavy infantry over the invading Persian forces in 490 BC at Marathon. Today was also the date of the Athens Marathon race, in which a record 43,000 runners took place, running 42.195 km from Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium in the centre of Athens.
Together with the Princeton Club of Greece, the College Year in Athens, and A SMALL WORLD, Navigator organised a reception at the finish line of the Athens Marathon. The event was attended by 50 guests and friends, students and volunteers. We were able to benefit from the beautiful weather (sunshine, 20 degrees) and the generous hospitality of College Year of Athens, which allowed us to use their venue for the event.
